100 Word Challenge Wk#7’18

Dear Diary

Today was the worst day of my life. It all started when my alarm went off at 7:00am this morning. My heart raced as i realised it was testing day. I quickly jumped out of bed and ran downstairs to start the day. 10 minutes later I reached school still with the same butterflies in my stomach I had this morning. I walked into my noisy class and scattered to my desk. But as the teacher came in the room fell silent. As soon as he slammed the door i knew that the test had began. But all those hours of studying would never prepare me for this.

A shrill cry echoed in the mist. I ducked as rocks tumbled down above my head. I was lost and alone in the pure darkness. The sound still surrounded me, with no hope in sight I started towards the edge of the cliff. With one last glance around I threw myself hurtling down. My stomach dropped and I prepared myself to die,but I just kept falling.I was expecting my life to flash right before my eyes but it didn’t. I was submerged in the ice cold water. I bobbed up to the surface. Seals, seals were laughing hysterically at me.

The car screeched to a halt, four men wearing creepy masks jumped out and ran into the nearest building (the museum) , I looked around. The street was deserted except for me. Their scarlet red masks flashed past my eyes. I knew that they had an annoying scheme to steal Sir Luke vii’s violin but nobody was smart enough to pick up on it. I felt so dazed from the thought that they were going to commit an illegal crime, I just wanted to lye down on a velvet cushion and stare at the freshly watered cacti and flowers opposite me.

“Land ahoy!” shouted the captain, “we’re about to become filthy rich!” Our flag danced along in the wind as we pulled down the anchor that we hadn’t used in years. It we heaven to me we’d been on the boat for four months and it was time for a break. My legs collapsed as we reached the sand. We were taking a big step forward and it was for good this time. We all thought it was safe here when all of a sudden lava rushed out from the volcano we once thought was a hill, forcing us to leave.

As the mountains grew bigger, my heart beat louder. It was the final leg of the race and I was not prepared to lose. I could feel my body giving up but my mind and soul were not. Carefully, I slowed down, but not willing to give up my place in trade for second. I could feel the sweat running down my face, but then the weather changed dramatically. As challenging as it was, I pushed through, but still retained my position during the harsh weather conditions. Crossing the finish line was the biggest relief I have ever had in a while.

The juiciest burgers were held here. Freshly cut lettuce and sliced tomato’s were the epitome of this place. So of course i’m talking about the food garage in the centre of Wellington. The 60s theme was a classic here as hundreds of people each night gathered and participated to feel the 60s love while waiting hours to just get one burger to make their foodie dreams come true. Many people believe that the garage was one of the original burger places in New Zealand! The show stopper though is the amazing art this place has as its true 60s inspired!

100 Word Challenge #Wk 27

There was a hard thump as we looked around to face the main village. We saw a long neck with muddy brown spots which continued onto a head with beautiful long black lashes and a speckled nose. It was a giraffe! The giraffe turned around to see a crowed of flashing cameras with people determined to get a picture of it. “A worried giraffe is no good in a village” someone began to shout out, but before he knew it it was raging straight towards us. Everyone began to run away into the wilderness and then the rest is in history.

I could feel my legs barley holding my body weight as I crossed the finish line. Awaiting me was my pairs, clapping and cheering me on sarcastically. I often wondered why but now it all makes perfect sense, I was last! I just wanted to hide in a corner and cry!  on the bus ride back I sat by myself. i was talking to the bus driver and said “why am I always last?” he replied with “why don’t you work harder for it!” I thought about it for a second and said  ‘so that is why i’m always last”

I rushed over to get a closer look at it and I saw it moving like the ground had a steady heartbeat, the nature was coming to life! So i took a step back to only see a grey head pop out !
